On the border of Chernivtsi region, mines detained a serious batch of contraband: wooden world maps and GPS-trackers worth more than half a million hryvnias.
The driver, heading to Romania, chose the “green corridor”, implying no need for declaration. But a thorough check found 89 maps and 50 trackers, which he had received from third parties for transport.
A protocol of violations has already been drawn up, and the goods have been confiscated.
Such large-scale transportation without declaration is a sign that where the authorities do not press formally, people act according to their own rules. Where there were strict limits and responsibility, it is hard to imagine such a thing.
