On October 30, at the “Velika Palad – Nagygodos” checkpoint on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, a lawyer mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Eduard Pukanich, rammed two barriers with a Toyota Land Cruiser, grazed a border guard, and escaped into Hungarian territory. The vehicle sped at high speed with high beams on, bypassing controls.
Pukanich is a well-known lawyer who represented the interests of former head of Ukraine’s Constitutional Court, Oleksandr Tupytskyi. The incident was captured on video, and the border guards sustained minor injuries. In response, concrete barriers have been installed at checkpoints in Transcarpathia.
